  • Brilliant red Ocotillo bloom in Anza Borrego Anza Borrego Desert State Park
  • I think they call this a Painted Lady Butterfly
  • Desert Dandelion in Anza Borrego Anza Borrego Desert State Park
  • Close up shot of the Red Racer snake in Indian Valley Anza Borrego. He would not move his head away from the shade of the bushes so it was hard to get a clear photograph.
  • Fishhook Cactus flower bloom in Indian Valley Anza Borrego Anza Borrego Desert State Park
  • Red and black beetle covered in pollen on a Wallaces Woolie Daisy in Indian Valley Anza Borrego Anza Borrego Desert State Park
  • Turkey Vulture in Indian Valley Anza Borrego. I managed to get within 50 yards of him and was able to capture this picture before he flew away.
  • Desert Iguana in Clark Valley Anza Borrego. If you look closely under his chin there is a piece of scat I believe is from him.
  • Desert Iguana in Clark Valley Anza Borrego. He opend his mouth as I got closer to photograph him. I read that iguanas will open their mouth when challenged to increase their lateral size for defense purposes.
  • White-crowned Sparrow who found a small amount of shade on a 97 degree day in Clark Valley
  • Side-Blotched Lizard in Blair Valley Anza Borrego. There were lots of these lizards sunning on the rocks. They have some real bright turqoise and orange colors. They are small, this one about the size of my finger.
  • Scott stepped within inches of this gopher snake and it wouldn't have harmed him but we were both on rattlesnake alert and this was the second of 4 snakes we would see on this trip
