This is where I started thinking about turning back and going to my truck

  • So this is a quick video I made with my camera as I was coming back down Whale Peak. Basically it shows where I started from out at the S2 and then the route up the ridge line, over to Whale Peak and then back down to where I was standing when I filmed it.
  • Google Earth image of my actual GPS recorded tracks
  • Whale Peak way off in the distance, I have a long way to go
  • Google Earth doesn't always show you the deep washes you have to go down and up
  • Yours truly..I think I am getting old and pudgy..
  • Starting finding pottery on the way up
  • Here is the trail going up
  • Picked up a nice sandy wash with lots of animal tracks
  • There was some pottery near a small milling feature going up
  • Whale Peak is still way off in the distance and the trail isn't gonna hike itself
  • More pottery going up
  • This is where I started thinking about turning back and going to my truck
